DISCOVER FUNANÁ
A living music and dance tradition from Cabo Verde, shared with the world.
Grupo Pilon · 1985–2026
Funaná is a music and dance tradition rooted in Cabo Verde. Its traditional sound is associated with the diatonic accordion (gaita) and the rhythmic scraping of the ferrinho. Its energy has travelled far beyond the islands.
Founded in Luxembourg in 1985, Grupo Pilon is one of the groups carrying this musical heritage across generations. The band performs its own repertoire with bass, drums, guitars, keyboards and percussion while keeping the rhythmic identity of funaná at the centre.
